Autumn Caravan and Motorhome Fair & My Birthday!

September 2nd, 2010 by sophiem

Hello

It only seems yesterday when Sian and I agreed to attend the Autumn Fair, and with another team member Jade joining us it should result in another great trip! Leaving tomorrow from work and heading up to Newark, Nottingham, I have been begged by the girls to go to MacDonalds for the roadtrip (not that I needed much persuading)  then a 3 hour trip commences. We actually enjoyed ourselves last time and I know I sound surprised but for two 20 year old girls it is quite a change for us at a weekend. We are also giving away a great pair of camping chairs every hour so please stop by and submit your entry or just to say hello.

It is the most important day of the year next week 7th September (my birthday if you haven’t already heard), and I think its causing a lot more pressure on my boyfriend than he originally thought. My fussy ways are starting to take its toll on him and I can see he will crack soon, but as long as I get something nice I am fine. I am really not spoilt but I like and dislike certain things and have not mastered how to hide a disappointed face yet. So I will wish him luck and be grateful in whatever I receive.

I am sure I will be on here soon telling the tales of the birthday event and the Autumn Caravan & Motorhome fair,

Take Care

Sophie

A New Month Dawns

September 1st, 2010 by MichaelS

Dear All

September already! This must have been the quickest year I can remember but it has been very good so far. I hope the Bank Holiday weekend brought good times for everyone, I watched Dagenham snatch a draw from the grasp of victory, we were mutch the better side but Tranmere did score a cracking free kick with 2 minutes to go. We had a nice 3 course carvery though they upset me by saying I could only have either beef or chicken and not both, so what is the point of a carvery! They did allow me to have both but as a loyal fan for years I was a bit frustrated (well hungry really!)

On Sunday I met some friends and had a nice Chinese in the evening from my local favourite, and then had a relaxing Bank Holiday monday with the family. My son is suffering slightly as he has his back teeth coming through, I feel so sorry for him and a little helpless.

September is traditionally the last Caravan month of the year and we need a good end to what has been a cracking year. We have worked very hard to be where we are and the only way is up! I have completed the monthly reports today for August and all looks good, I appreciate the efforts of my Team.

Well, here we go again!

Mike

Tuesday Morning Blues, Caravan Insurance & Sophie

August 31st, 2010 by Richard

I hope you had a good bank holiday weekend – not sure about the cold weather we experienced, seems like winter is going to arrive very early.

The schools return this week so the commute to work will increase by 50% – utter madness.

Today sees me off into hospital as a day care case for a Knee Op. I have previously been to the Nuffield in Brentwood but today sees a break in my routine and a trip to the Spire Hosptial – new name for BUPA apparently – I must have missed that rebranding.

So I have a few hours to kill before leaving here around 10.45am and having had to stop eating and drinking at 7.30am I am craving badly for my early morning cups of tea!

I find my PA off this week as well so my life line to the office has also been cut, thats bad news for all the others as it just means I will have to communicate with everyone directly instead!

Happy I can take my ipad in though – whilst playing with You Tube found a great Avril Lavigne (bit of a soft spot for her) song called Innocence and the live version is rather cool. The song has great words and means diffferent things to different peole no doubt but I liked the way I think about it!

I will have no excuses for not blogging this week while I have been forced into having to sit down – not someting I do well.

September commences tomorrow and we are going to have an amazing month for Caravan Insurance – August was quiet and that always means that September will be busy and I know Mike will motivate his  team to achieve great things.

I am not sure I have publiclly congratulated our very own Sophie Morris for being promoted to the role of Assistant Manager- she was such the right person for the job and she will go far. Well done Sophie.

Have a great day.

Rich

Getting a static caravan insurance quote

August 30th, 2010 by jasonh

Today there are providers of online caravan insurance that can typically provide a fast static caravan insurance quote.

Here are a few tips relating to that process:

  • think through your position in advance – you’ll need to be clear about whether or not for example the site you plan to use is approved and secure, as things such as that may reduce your premium;
  • be clear about your security – insurance providers like to see evidence of enhanced locks, bolts and alarms and they may result in some discounts;
  • keep in mind that if your site has a documented history of flooding, then that may push the price of your static caravan insurance quote up;
  • some providers may demand that you confirm that your caravan is firmly anchored in place and raised off its wheels;
  • decide whether you want your contents insured on a new-for-old or market value basis and try to avoid under-estimating the replacement costs of your items;
  • if you have an external awning, you may have to declare it separately and it may only be covered when you’re away from the caravan if it has been fully stowed away;
  • some providers may favourably view membership of a professional owners’ club and reward that through discounts.

Once you have your quotation, remember that there may be some additional factors to consider:

  • you may find that it is obligatory to drain down all your water systems when the caravan is not in use;
  • some policies may demand that your caravan is connected to mains services;
  • your policy may cover your caravan if you’ve rented it out for holiday purposes and your own use for the same reasons – but typically not if you are living in it regularly or have rented it out very long term;
  • policies typically carry an excess, which is the first part towards a claim that you have to pay.

Starting to live permanently in your static caravan or renting it out long-term may not be advisable. You may invalidate your existing insurance and also encounter local byelaw issues!

If you are at all uncertain, we offer an excellent telephone service and would welcome your call. We’ll be only too pleased to help.

Your static caravan insurance quote is the first stage in a process designed to ultimately result in your financial protection. Getting it right is worth spending a little time over.

What is park home insurance?

August 26th, 2010 by jasonh

If you have a park home, you may think that you can get away with insuring it with a traditional home insurance policy or maybe static caravan insurance. However, specialist park home insurance is typically needed if you want to ensure that your residential caravan is adequately protected.

While your park home may be your permanent home, traditional home buildings and contents insurance is typically not an option. This is because while a bricks and mortar home and a park home face do similar risks (such as theft), they also face different ones too.

Similarly, some people think that insurance for static caravans will cover their park home – typically, it will not.

Is a park home a static caravan?

People often think that a park home is a caravan – maybe because it resembles a static caravan – and may believe that static home insurance can cover their park home. Generally, this will not be the case as there are key differences between the two.

A caravan that is parked permanently or semi-permanently on one site, typically secured in place and perhaps anchored off its wheels is normally referred to as a static caravan.

Although they may rarely be moved between sites, they are normally regarded as not being mobile.

Static caravans are also typically:

  • occupied for a few weeks or months during holiday periods;
  • relatively well equipped;
  • connected to mains services such as drains, water and electricity;
  • sited on a holiday home park.

There are specialist caravan insurance products that provide static caravan insurance. They may also provide cover for the caravan while it’s being used for rental purposes.

Park homes on the other hand are typically sited on residential parks and are used as a permanent home. They tend be more highly equipped than a static caravan, as they are designed for year round use.

What does park home insurance cover?

That depends very much upon the park home policy you purchase and your insurance provider.

Typically, you may wish to think about covering:

  • theft of contents;
  • theft of, or damage to, the your home;
  • natural disasters such as storms, fire, floods etc.

Don’t take chances

In the event of a claim, having the most suitable form of park home insurance in place may be critically important – so don’t hesitate to ask us for specialist caravan insurance advice if required.
