PTA – unsung heroes of our schools?
I hear lots of people moaning about out PTA’s events – not enough notice, not organised enough, the cheap gifts are too cheap and so on and so forth.
Last night my wife was having her hair cut so I took her place helping the PTA at the school disco – obviously my son was there!
As I watched the handful of PTA members running around organising pop corn sales, glowstick sales, collecting forms, collecting money, watching and looking after the children – assisted by just three teachers from the school, it dawned on me how easy it is for those parents who do not get involved to moan.
The PTA of every school are pretty much unappreciated unsung heroes, the money they raise all goes to the school and is alwayes used wisely buying things that would not be provided to our children otherwise.
As a Governor at the school I know how much the money is appreciated thats for sure.
Parents should appreciate the work their PTA does and rather than moaning they should put up their hands and help out, afterall I used up only one hour of my life last night not only benefitting the school but also interacting with my son and lots of other children.
Thats my thought for today.
Enjoy your weekend as the caravan season is only a few weeks away. Roll on March!
