Well my Tuesday consisted of a good meeting in London, opposite Lloyds of London, seeing an Underwriter about our new Cover4Home scheme, the deal we are putting together is looking good and we are hoping for a launch by January 2009 with some testing of the rates before hand – it will be our first Cover4 Main Stream product.
Hi,
I have just been on the Practical Caravan blog and have been inspired. Like pretty much all Touring Caravan Insurance we also ask that a wheel clamp is fitted when the caravan is attached to the towing vehicle but left unattended.
Alan on the PC blog informs me that he now has a brew up in his van to avoid this issue, this is silly.
Whilst the media debates the effects of our “carbon footprint” in many areas of our lives, and the government bring in Lower Emission Zones in London, very few people have discussed the impact of other vehicles on the road. However, that has all changed in the area of Touring Caravans. The National Caravan Council revealed that the area of Touring Caravans has been largely neglected but as there are now well over half a million on the road, The NCC have set up a website dedicated to the issue, www.greencaravanning.co.uk.
Making 3rd party touring caravan insurance compulsory may sound ridiculous. The main reason for this may be because 3rd party cover, in respect of a caravan, is automatically covered under a standard motor car insurance policy whilst being towed. The touring caravan may be at its highest risk whilst towing but there are also many other 3rd party risks that would not be covered if you haven’t purchased touring caravan insurance.
So, as I have nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon and the children are staying fairly quiet at the moment, I got to thinking about one of my favorite subjects, the touring caravan. So many years of selling touring caravan insurance must have started to ‘rub off’!
