How much should I insure my caravan for?

IGI Gold (New for Old) – Touring Caravan Insurance – If your touring caravan is less than 5 years old and you are the first owner, you can insure your touring caravan under a new for old policy. This means that you should insure your touring caravan at all times, for the cost of a brand new equivalent.

IGI Gold (Agreed Value) – Touring Caravan Insurance – If your caravan touring caravan is less than 5 years old but you are not the first owner. IGI Gold can offer an agreed value policy. This means you must insure your caravan for however much you paid for it. You must also have the receipt of purchase for this type of touring caravan insurance cover.

IGI Silver (Market Value) – Touring Caravan Insurance – If your touring caravan is more than 5 years old, you can insure your caravan under a market value policy. This means that the touring caravan should be insured for the market value. This can be found in the Glass’s Guide to Caravan Values.

Equity Red Star (New for Old) – Touring Caravan Insurance – If your touring caravan is less than 3 years old, whether you are the first owner of the touring caravan or not, you can insure you caravan under new for old policy. This means that you should insure your touring caravan at all time, for the cost of a brand new equivalent.

Equity Red Star (Market Value) – Touring Caravan Insurance – If your touring caravan is more than 3 years old, you can insure your caravan under a market value policy. This means that the touring caravan should be insured for the market value. This can be found in the Glass’s Guide to Caravan Values.

Is my touring caravan insured whilst being towed?

The caravan is covered for accidental damage under the touring caravan insurance whilst the caravan is being towed. You should ensure that your car insurance covers for 3rd party towing risks. The touring caravan insurance will only cover damage to the caravan whilst being towed, as your car insurance will cover any 3rd party risks e.g. other vehicles being damaged in an accident.

Can I take my touring caravan abroad?

Yes, you can take your touring caravan abroad for up to either 240 days under an IGI touring caravan insurance policy, or up to 120 days under an Equity Red Star policy.

What security items are required?

The only security items that are required under our touring caravan insurance policies are a hitch-lock and a wheel clamp. We also give discounts for phantom tracking devices but these are not required.

Where can I store my touring caravan?

Our touring caravan insurance companies will let you store your caravan at your home address, a registered CaSSOA site (registered by the Caravan Association), a member of your immediate families address or at a dedicated storage area, which meets the requirements of the touring caravan insurance companies.
