Today was the day. I have not seen Robert and my old colleagues from Fairweathers for about 6 years.

On my way to the Funeral Service I had decided that I did not want to spend the time shaking hands and asking how people were but I simply wanted to be quiet and spend the time remembering Robert and thinking of his family.

I did greet a few people like Darren, John, Valerie & Frannie but my wife and I stayed at the back and paid our own tribute to Robert.

The service was full of many people and hopefully that offered some comfort to the family – knowing that Robert was loved and respected so much that all these people had made an effort to attend.

It was moving and I am sitting here, havuing just got home from my mum’s (they stil live in Ruislip) still feeling sad. We did did not go back for the “wake” as it did not feel right for me.

I, at times, get so angry with the world. 44 is no age. Why should Robert not have seen his daughters get married? Why should he not be allowed to enjoy his life?

It is very unfair for a young man to pass away without a warning – sometimes a prolonged illness or any illness atleast gives us time to adjust to what transpires around us.

Once things have settled down I hope to meet some of the people from Fairwethers for a drink so we can remember the old days – I have not asked yet as they may not want to!

To conclude this blog I would reiterate what Robert’s “other half” said today – Live every day to the full and tell those that you love that you do indeed love them.

In the words of my beloved Music Artist I would just finish with: -

My Harbour lights are fading fast

soon they’ll disappear

alone I sit in darkness

hoping someone might come near

though I wait, though I try

no one ever comes

and the feelimgs that I have flood over me

the river starts to run.

We fly so close, sometimes we fly too close……..

Good afternoon

Well the due date has passed, my fiancee is somewhat bored at still being pregnant but hopefully not too much longer and our little bundle of joy will be here. I am very excited and please forgive my constant babbling as it is a way of life from now on.

In a strange way it has made me think of how the Cover4Caravans Team has evolved from it’s humble beginnings all those years ago and that I have been here from the first policy sold to the latest. I remember working lots of hours in those heady days trying to gain a foothold in the market, of testing, developing and revamping our Schemes. I remember adding our new insurers, the Static Caravan Scheme going live, and it makes you realise how hard work pays off in the end.

Anyway, enough of thinking about the past we must move on otherwise we stand still.

Happy touring

Good afternoon

Well we have achieved our targets for the month on new business with days to spare, and this is always a relief so a huge well done to the Team has been passed out.  I had a long conversation with an old colleague of sorts from Aviva on Wednesday, to put it in perspective I haven’t spoken to her since I was on our wholesale property side over 3 years ago. It was good to catch up and hopefully arrange a works night out, it certainly helps insurer/broker relationships to have a few cold drinks!

A quiet weekend approaches, in the office tomorrow (assuming my baby hasn’t popped out) and then relaxing maybe with my family on Sunday. I very much enjoyed meeting my brother in law to be on Wednesday and I had an excellent Ham, Egg and Chips in my local. Well I hope to get a few more blogs in before the baby is born but if not…I will probably be blogging while at home with the family.

Happy touring

Well I am nearly at the end of the week and I have next week off to actually spend some time with the family, we are not going away but we are going to have lots of days out – regardless of this damn weather!

Tomorrow is a sad day for me, I have been a Special Constable in the Met Police for 18 years and tomorrow I will undertake my last duty and then resign my warrant and become a normal citizen for the first time since I was 18!

I have had a great time in the “Met” and am sad to be leaving but I need to commit my time to my business and my family and something had to give and that something was my Police Work.

I will miss my partner of 10 years – Christina Merryfield and it will be a sad farewell tomorrow night – she is also resigning tomorrow.

Life needs to change though and this has been a decision in the making for a couple of years now.

Back to the grind stone now.

Good afternoon all on this humid Tuesday

Those who look at replies of these blogs will notice a very cheeky remark from my mother in law last week in praise of my fiancee (Apparantly she’s better looking than me though it’s not the first time i’ve been told this!) but baby still hasn’t arrived, here’s hoping for next week. A visit from my brother in law tomorrow should be good, unless of course Fliss decides to go into labour.

A record day yesterday all round for us, it really was mad in the afternoon which shows that our rates are right there in the market and this is a pleaser for us all. A very well earned well done to my hard working Team was given out, I really am very proud of the work ethic that we have here and it almost brings a tear to my eye, although that might have something to do with a certain Mr Flintoff’s destruction of our Australian cousins which I have taped and will view tonight as the wife is out.

Happy touring
