The Nights Draw In

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Dear All

Dark at 5pm!! Oh you really know that it’s October don’t you, never mind. I have a rather painful toothache today which means a trip to the dentist for me, that sounds as fun as it is doesn’t it and doubly expensive!

As we near the month end the stats are looking good, we have achieved our targets on Touring and Static caravans which is excellent with 4 days to go, so a big well done to the Team for this. We are also looking forward to the Company bowling night on Thursday which is always a great time to mix with friends and colleagues, Fliss will be coming so my Mum will be babysitting for us. We had a visit from my mother in law whom is much better and this week gets busier with a viewing of a property on Thursday and a visit to the doctors on Friday.

Also, Saturday 31st is Catherine’s 21st birthday, it makes me feel older to say that 4 of the Team have had their 21st whilst on the Department!

Well back to the grindstone as we have renewal targets to achieve.

Happy touring

The Flu Season Begins

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Dear All

Friday is here, and it has been a suprisingly quick week for us here which has seen decent results for October and a nearing of our targets for the month. I will be looking through some Claims Stats this afternoon for one of our insurers which is an interesting project, and hopefully they show how careful underwriting is a benefit to us all.

Well my beloved Fliss seems to be coming down with a bug, so I hope Jacob is nice to her until I can take over. It is of course that time of year and the Office has seen a number of people battling illness. Indeed, I had a bug this time last year and had to rest up at home, unfortunately I rushed back to work before I was ready and was off again. Just shows you to rest up at the time.

Sian and Jecelda are due back from their jetsetting holidays to Tobago and Singapore respectively on Monday, it has been somewhat quiet without them.

Next week is a busy one with a Company bowling night on Thursday, seeing my parents on Friday, another check up for Jacob and snooker with friends on Halloween night (I will not be dressing up although some say I don’t need to!)

Have a great weekend.

Happy touring

The Tuesday Update

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Good afternoon

Well Jacob has had his injections, and as I predicted he screamed initially and then proceeded to fall asleep in his car seat afterwards! Fliss couldn’t bear to watch so it was down to Dad to hold him, so as he’s been a brave boy I have treats this evening.

I must give a quick get well message to my mother in law Pam whilst I am on, she has been under the weather and had to cancel a visit last week. I hope she is getting better as she hopes to come down on Saturday, so rest up till then!

It has been a decent start to the week for the Team, decent conversion and some praise on the Caravanning4u forum for our competitiveness and service which I have sent to them. I always find it a boost when I get an email of praise so i’m sure they will be the same. We remain on target for the month’s new business and renewal targets as well.

I did get out for a sneaky pint last night at my local and won a free beer! They have a quiz question which the winner receives a free drink, and the question was:

“In what year was EastEnders first transmitted?” And I actually knew the answer (I don’t have internet on my phone or a Blackberry so I wasn’t cheating!)

I’ll give the answer next time.

Cover4 – Competitive In A Competitive Market

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Dear All

I have been internet browsing this afternoon on several forums and answering people’s queries on touring caravan insurance that they may have, it’s interesting to hear the many different views. A person asked me for an estimate on a touring caravan quote which is difficult to ascertain, as we have a unique rating structure that factors in age, storage area, makes of caravan etc which is constantly reviewed, revised and updated according to our statistical information.

Whilst people argue about cheapest price, I like to think that we are very competitive when our clients “tick all the right buttons” so to speak. We certainly don’t arrive at our premiums by luck, it takes constant reviewing to be undertaken, discussions with insurers, feedback from staff and obviously from you the public. As an example, when we did a static caravan insurance review of our post codes 2 years ago, we realised our insurers needed to widen their scope of areas and reduce premiums to be competitive. The information was discussed with insurers and a swift decision made.

It’s strange that you can get your touring or static caravan quote in 2 minutes and yet it takes constant reviews, stats and competition analysis to arrive at these figures! Insurance may be boring but alot goes into it, I won’t even go into claims information here as that’s a whole new topic and i’ll be here forever!

What a Weekend!

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Dear All

Well it almost couldn’t have been better, all my football teams played at 3pm on Saturday and all won! Arsenal, Southend and Dagenham were victorious and put me in a very good mood, particularly the mighty Daggers who are second in the league and have one of the smallest budgets in the league. I will be going next month as it’s birthday (my 28th in fact) and I am informed that they provide an excellent carvery these days.

Just has a look at our online stats, and they are about what I would expect for the time of year, the Team will be focusing on achieving our renewal targets for the month. This is the time of year we need to be looking forward and reviewing our season and looking forward to how we can be even better next year.

My son has some injections tomorrow afternoon which I am told can be pretty horrific, so I will be on hand to comfort the poor boy afterwards!

Well it’s Sunday and that means there’s footie on, so i’ll be off!

Happy touring (in the cold!)
