A wet and wild weekend

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Good morning all

I hope you all had a nice weekend, with the wet weather and, as I found out, there was a nice hail storm whilst I was walking out yesterday with my son. I was drencehd when I returned home and not in a great mood.

We had a very nice weekend with some drinks on Friday as a late birthday do, and saw my family on Saturday for a Chinese and some snooker (I regret that I lost again but enjoyed the game as I played quite well).

Strangely we have not had as many touring caravan claims in the current conditions which is a suprise as I expected a deluge of calls this morning. As ever if any of our clients need advice during this difficult time we are here to help, advise and mediate with your concerns.

Have a good Monday (well as good as it can be on a Monday!)

Happy touring

Caravan Show Reports Record Sales

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Dear All

Reports coming out of the NEC Caravan Show in Birmingham are showing positive signs for the Caravan Industry with top manufacturers like Elddis and Bailey part of a first day sales drive of around 400 vans (estimated worth of the touring caravans around £6million!).

There was also an increase of visitors of more than 10% which makes 2009 the most popular show in history with around 78,000 people! Around 3,000 of these visitors signed up for a brand new Touring caravan as well which is an excellent sign that the industry is thriving in these difficult times. We may be seeing the green shoots of recovery for the economy in that around £45 million of vans were purchased at the show!

We have seen the impact of the shows ourselves from our sponsoring of the increasingly popular Spring Fair in Newark which we are attending again in 2010 as noted on previous blog articles. I will hopefully be there myself but this is dependant on family commitments at the time, keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Happy touring

Nice Weather – for ducks that is!

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Well it is another rainy and windy Sunday morning in November – the news continues to tell us about weather extremes in the UK and the floods in certain areas are terrible.

Fortunately at this time it would seem that few if any of our Touring Caravan Insurance or Static Caravan Insurance customers have been affected – as far as their caravans are concerned that is, which is pretty good news for us all.

It seems in the run up to Christmas that my time is spent visiting people and going to kids parties etc. This suits me just fine as we like to avoid the shops until after the new year sales – a challenge much easier to accomplish now we have the internet.

Very organised me – have even purchased the wife’s present and had it delivered to work – there must be some brownie points heading my way by now!

Have a good Sunday despite the weather.

Birthday Blues

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Good morning all

Well it’s the day before my birthday and I am looking forward to a weekend of fun and frolics with my family for my 28th, I am told there are lots of pressies at home. I am going to see the mighty Daggers at home to Rochdale tomorrow in the comfort of the hospitality section and haven’t been as excited by a game for years. A three course carvery lunch and a couple of beverages thrown into the mix makes it all the more interesting, please let us have a win! I am also hoping to take my lovely fiancee out for a meal on Sunday and need to arrange a babysitter, I think a little bit of couples time is important.

As for work, we have seen an unusually high number of conversions on Touring Caravans for the time of year which is a nice suprise and hopefully sets up a good weekend online.

As I feel guilty about going out without the family tomorrow I have taken Monday off to placate them, and it’s Jacob’s second set of injections (oh joy!)

Have an excellent weekend

Mike
