Caravan insurance tourer protection can bring enormous peace of mind when you are out on the roads with your caravan as well as when parked up. As a touring caravan owner, you may typically be faced with numerous hazards – and without the correct touring caravan insurance behind you, it may cost a great deal of money if the worst-case scenario were to occur.

Alternative accommodation protection

Imagine for a moment that you are taking a two-week break touring and your caravan is involved in an accident, which results in the van being taken for repairs. This leaves you and your family with the problem of having to find alternative accommodation while these repairs are taking place. If you have insurance to rely on the policy may typically pay up to so much per day, for a set period of time, towards the costs of a stay in alternative accommodation for you and your family.

Protection for touring around Europe

Many caravan owners like to travel outside of the UK and into Europe. If you intend on doing so you may wish to check how many days’ European cover is included in your touring insurance policy.

Often, within a typical static caravan policy, you may have a set amount of days’ worth of European caravan cover within it. However, you may get more coverage as standard with some providers than you do with others, so do look at this when choosing your cover.

If you were to travel into Europe and your policy did not include European protection, you typically need to stop and apply for insurance when you reach the country’s borders, so bear this in mind.

Improving the security

One of the events usually covered in a typical touring caravan insurance policy is theft. This generally covers theft of your personal belongings and the caravan itself.
Some caravans – such as some of the German models – are at particular risk of being stolen, however all touring models may become targets for thieves. There may be times, such as when stopping for lunch at a cafe, that your caravan is left unattended, hitched to your vehicle.

Many insurers will require that you install a hitchlock on your caravan for circumstances such as this. (For example, when your caravan is left attached to an unattended vehicle) as well as a wheel clamp when the caravan is left unhitched to your vehicle. These preventative measures may help stop your caravan from being unhitched and stolen.

So, when looking for touring caravan insurance do check what obligations you will need to fulfil (such as security measures) in order to get suitably covered.

Well it is nearly the end of the working day and New Years Eve is tomorrow – I have the day off. The weather does not look very promising again and the rain will prevent the clan from venturing out – goodness knows how much the heating bill will be in 2010!

2009 has simply flown by and it has been an interesting year both professionally and personally – I will not bore you with the detail as you can scan through my blog and find out what has been going on!

What will 2010 bring? No one really knows but I do know that if we work hard enough it will bring reward and by working hard I refer to not just the office but to working hard at also keeping the work / life balance in order!

Thank you all for your support in 2009 and enjopy your new year celebrations in whatever form they may take!

Now thats a question for you – one minute it was here and the next it was gone – we hosted the family and it all went rather smoothly, having decided to pre-order the turkey and trimmings from Waitrose for a Xmas Eve collection – the event continued to run smoothly.

We had all recovered from our illnesses and a good time was had by all.

The only down side has been my continued pain of my tennis elbows – it is a nightmare and I could harp on about it for a long time but it is easier just to soldier on with some additional wimpering – us men are very good at that.

I find myself in the office today and tomorrow and putting lots of plans in place for the 2010 Caravan Insurance season – with the cold and the rain it is not the worst place to be at the moment.

I am off to Bluewater shopping tonight and we have a baby sitter booked so we can have a look at any of the remaining sale bargains!

I hope your Christmas was fun.

Old Trafford in the Champions League

I forgot to post my photo for Old Trafford when I went to see United play CSKA Moscow in November (I think it was)  – the result was 3-3 and from a neutral point of view it was a great game for my first Champions League live match – something I am not ever likely to see at Watford!

Dear All

I hope all of our readers had a good Christmas and will hopefully have a great New Year. I have enjoyed my first Christmas as a parent and have done the rounds with the families, we opened our own presents on Boxing Day as we were out the day before.

It makes me think back on the achievements of the year, both professionally and personally. For me, the obvious highlight is that day in August where I became a father and fulfilled my ambition, it is hard work but certainly worth it. Family is an extremely important part of who we are and I am certainly proud of mine, I look forward to seeing my son grow into a little man in 2010.

On a professional level, my Team have done me proud this year and have shown that they can cope with everything that is thrown at them. I am a great believer in Team spirit and I hope that I can push them forward them forward as individuals and as a Team in 2010.

I hope that you have had a great year and, like me, you are looking forward to a bright and prosperous New Year and the challenges ahead of us all.

Bring it on!

Happy Christmas

Mike
