Simply renewing your touring caravan insurance year after year with the same provider may mean that your cover is no longer quite as appropriate for you as it once was.

Changes in circumstances could have arisen for a number of reasons and you may find that you could now be over or under insured. This may mean that you may be paying too much for your touring caravan insurance or that your cover is not actually offering you the protection you think it does.

Changes in your use

Over the years, the way that you use your caravan for holidays may have altered significantly. To take just a few examples:

  • you may no longer need to have younger drivers on your policy – that may result in lower premiums;
  • you may find that you no longer take your caravan out of the UK, in which case, you may not now need to pay for continental cover;
  • conversely, you may recently have developed a desire to see a bit more of the world and are venturing over the channel – so you need a policy which may include European cover as standard;
  • with the kids off your hands you can take longer holidays and cover more miles than you used to, in which case you may benefit if your touring caravan insurance does not limit the days or miles that you can cover.

Changes in your caravan

Obviously your caravan has got older over the years.

This though, may not mean that its value is necessarily decreasing. Of course, if you have done nothing to your caravan since you bought it, then it is unlikely to be worth more now than it used to be.

On the other hand, if you have upgraded your caravan specification, then its value – or the value of the caravan contents – may have risen.

In either case you may need to review your level of cover to ensure that it matches the current value of your tourer.

Changes in the market

You may find that some insurance providers may offer reduced premiums if you have taken certain steps over the years. For example:

  • if you have caravan club membership, this may both demonstrate a mature and responsible approach but also be a forum for the exchange of hints and tips about safer carvanning;
  • installing tracking devices and security alarms may help keep your caravan just that bit safer;
  • reducing opportunities for theft, damage or vandalism, by parking your tourer in your drive or garage when it is not in use;
  • using an approved CaSSOA site for your caravan over the winter months.

Finally, look at the terms and conditions closely to ensure you understand the level of cover you are getting, as well as any exclusions. For example, typically touring caravan insurance providers offer new for old replacement for tourers up to three years old but on the condition that you have been the only owner. The good news is that at cover4caravans we offer this level of cover, even if there have been other owners.

You may well be driven to try to get the most appropriate insurance you can for your touring caravan. That would be understandable and we are confident that our touring caravan insurance offerings will be able to help you towards achieving that.

Why?

It is a myth that all caravan insurance policies are ‘more or less the same’. We have worked to provide you with a set of options that recognise both the practicalities of caravanning in the 21st century and the economic imperatives.

Here is just the sample of some of things that you may find particularly attractive in our touring caravan cover insurance:

  • if your caravan is up to three years old when disaster strikes, then you will get a new for old replacement – irrespective of how many previous owners the caravan had seen before the problem occurred (by contrast, some insurers may only offer new for old replacement if you had been the sole owner of your caravan). We also offer a scheme where you can have new for old replacement for a caravan up to five years old if you have been the sole owner;
  • we can offer you a quotation even if you have had previous claims against caravan insurance policies;
  • if you are the owner of a Hobby caravan, you may be very pleased to know that, unlike some insurance providers, we are happy to offer Hobby caravan insurance;
  • we appreciate the attractions of the continent and its sunshine – which is why we include free continental cover as standard (up to a set amount of days);
  • we are also keen to help you obtain as much control over your premium as possible, which is why we offer a range of discounts for things such as tracking devices, the use of CaSSOA sites to store your caravan when not in use and membership of a caravanning club etc.

Spring is almost here and our aim is to help you get to a position where you can be driving along with your touring caravan, comfortable in the knowledge that you have effective caravan insurance behind you.

Through our touring caravan insurance options, we are confident that you will be able to find a policy that is suitable for your needs.

Dear All

The weather has certainly held up in the last few weeks, we spent most of the long weekend in the garden enjoying the sun. It is nice to occasionally relax and have a few minutes to reflect on how lucky you are to enjoy your family, and I certainly realise that!

It has been a busy but enjoyable time for the Caravan season as we have had lots of enquiries and made lots of sales and done excellent business. I am very proud of the Team as we have put lots of effort in and they deserve the rewards that we as a unit get. Don’t forget we are available today and tomorrow on freephone 0800 9707172 and reopen on May 3rd.

Me and my partner are going to Dagenham for football on Saturday which will be enjoyable if tense as we are in the thick of the relegation dogfight, though the boys have done fantastically well as we have a very small budget compared to the Charltons and Southamptons of this world.

Have a great day

Mike

Generally we always have a number of choices available to us, these are challenges and I personally find that we can moan and bury our heads in the sand or you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off and look at what new opportunity has actually presented itself.

Then plan, talk to people, tap into their expertise and their enthusiasm and then start doing something new.

When opportunity knocks it is generally as a result of a challenge, rarely do we find an opportunity presented in an obvious format.

Everything moves on and there is no point in looking back, ofcourse we should reflect and use these experiences but you have to look forward.

Nothing great was every acheived without enthusiasm. A statement I always hold close to my own core values.

Have a great day.

Richard
