Here are some frequently asked questions relating to a park home insurance quote.
What exactly is a park home?
From an insurance point of view, this is typically a dwelling that resides on a development that a local council has formally approved as being suitable for permanent occupation by park homes.
You will typically permanently occupy it as your normal place of domicile and will typically also be paying local council taxes.
It is not a static caravan, a touring caravan or any other form of caravan that is occupied occasionally for holiday purposes.
What is a park home insurance quote?
Your park home requires appropriate insurance. That cover is designed specifically for park homes and you cannot use any other form of caravan insurance to cover a park home.
The quotation process is as per any other insurance – it exists to allow you to obtain an understanding of the cover available and the price, before you make a purchasing decision as to your insurance.
Is all park home insurance more or less the same apart from cost?
No.
The detail of the cover available may vary considerably between insurance providers – as may the conditions and prices.
It is always a good idea to look carefully at these before making a decision. It may also be advisable to avoid an exclusive focus on the price since in the event of claim, what will be important to you is the cover the policy provides rather than how much you have been paying for it to date.
What are my obligations as part of the policy?
That depends upon the individual policy.
You may be required to use certain minimum security precautions. Policies may also contain conditions relating to the draining down of water systems if the property is left unoccupied during winter months (during holiday periods etc).
Some policies may contain restrictions relating to site conditions such as only providing park home insurance for dwellings that are located on sites that are permanently supervised etc.
These factors are typically clearly laid out within a park home insurance quote or in its associated documentation – a very good reason why they should be read carefully and at some leisure, before deciding whether or not the cover is appropriate for your circumstances.

Dear All
Whilst not a caravan topic, many of you may know that I have been a supporter of my home town club, Dagenham and Redbridge, for more than 20 years and have been at some of their biggest and most exciting games.
It is with some regret that I heard the news that our longest serving current player, goalkeeper Tony Roberts, announced his retirement from football last night. I have had the privelege of watching Tony in many games over the past 11 years with the Club, including a great display at Norwich City in the FA Cup in 2003, his humour with opposition fans, and his somewhat erratic goal kicks!
Having seen him in the sposors lounge on many occassions, I saw his love for the game and he was the first over to the photographers to see if there were any action shots of him and he certainly loved being interviewed! He was also pivotal in the 2007 Conference Winning campaign which took us to League football for the first time, the FA Cup campaigns over the years and the 2010 League 2 Play Off success at Wembley. He was always happy to pose for photos and this is why my family sponsored his shirts for years.
Good luck with your new career as Arsenal’s goal keeping coach, you have earned great respect and will go down as one of the best players in our history. Hopefully you will come back for one last appearance in front of your fans.
Mike
If your site owner is one of those who tries to convince you to buy your static caravan insurance on-site from them, then you may wonder if it is worthwhile to go through the motions and compare static caravan insurance quotes.
Compare quotes
The fact is that, contrary to what some static site owners may have you believe, in most cases you are under no obligation to buy static caravan cover from them. You do have the option to buy your own static home cover elsewhere.
Even if the site owners charge you a fee for having to administer your policy, you may find that the time taken to compare static caravan insurance quotes represents time well spent because even with the fee added on, you may still have found more cost-effective static caravan cover.
This can only be good news if you are keen, like everyone when times are difficult, to avoid unnecessary spending.
Discounts may be available
Of course, when you compare static caravan cover quotes there are other features to look at apart from just the price – important to you as that may be.
You may find, for example, that there are policies that may offer discounts if:
The cover offered
Given the amount of money you may have spent on your static, one of the most important aspects of caravan cover for you may be the new for old replacement criteria attached to your policy.
This may differ quite significantly from policy to policy:
Protecting your caravan contents may also be important to you, particularly if you have high specification electrical items in your static home. When you compare static caravan insurance quotes, you may see that some policies may offer unrealistically low levels of cover that may not be appropriate for your belongings.
