Comparing caravan insurance policies is all very well but before you can carry out an effective caravan insurance review, you may have to have a fair idea about what cover you are actually looking for and how one policy may differ from another.

An important point to recognise at the outset is that a caravan insurance review should tell you more than just how one policy may differ in price from another.

Every caravan owner and their caravan may make a unique combination and may have very different ideas about what they are looking for when it comes to caravan insurance.

Using internet based specialist providers of insurance, caravan cover may be easier to find than you might imagine and you may also be able to take advantage of those providers who may offer discounts in certain circumstances.

For example:

  • one of the bigger risks for a static caravan comes from flooding, so if you can locate your static on a site which has a good history of being flood free, some providers may be able to offer discounts;

  • on the other hand, if you have a tourer, one of the bigger risks may be its theft, so if you fit a tracking device, that may help in its recovery should the worst happen;

  • belonging to a recognised caravan club may typically be regarded as a sign of a serious and mature caravanner and may attract what may be called caravan club insurance discounts;

  • if you have a tourer, keeping it off of the public highway on your driveway may help to keep it out of the way of thieves and vandals.

An insurance review may also be able to help you identify those providers who may attach terms and conditions to their policies, which you may have to be aware of to avoid invalidating your insurance.

So you may, for example:

  • be required to drain down water and heating systems when your caravan in not in use over the winter period;

  • take special precautions with your awning;

  • if you have a tourer, use a wheel clamp when if you leave your caravan unattended  and attached to your car and fit a hitchlock if you unhitch and go off somewhere.

Taking a few minutes to carry out a caravan insurance review may help you to get the cover that is suitably appropriate for you.

Dear All

My apologies for not blogging this week, lots going on!

My son has been reading The Gruffalo this week and it appears to be his current favourite, I have my eye on the Gruffalo’s Son book which is currently on offer from our book club.

The weather has taken a rainy turn here, and it’s very odd when it gets dark at 6.30 at night and it’s still dark when I wake up in the morning.

The weekend is almost upon us and it should be a fairly quiet one, the only thing we are really doing is that I am hoping to take our son to the park which is a favourite place of ours.

It is almost time for my, ahem, 30th birthday which occurs in November. I have no issue with the milestone but it is odd to think about that what goals you have had and where you are now. Thats a bit thoughtful for the morning though!!!

Have a great day

Mike

Today is my last day in the office and then I am off for some well earned days with the clan. We are having loads of days out including a trip to a local castle (Mountfitchet) and Duxford War Museum – lots of educational stuff.

I am determined to go back to video blogging and will spend the next few days researching the best way we can get this moving forward, hopefully they will be fun and answer lots of your questions and queries at the same time. It is also a great way to get to know our human side – well as much as I can ever  be described as being human!

Our Caravan Insurance year has been awesome and October has continued to be a cracking month for renewals and new business sales. We are well positioned for a massive drive forward in 2012 and in particular the new branding is nearly finished.

As you know I am a big fan of Phil Collins and it was good to read about him attending a ceremony in Hamburg celebrating the 3rd Anniversary of the Disney Musical, Tarzan. I can’t believe it didn’t last on Broadway nor that it has not come over to the UK. I would love to go and see it but that is rather unlikely at the moment.

Anyhow, enjoy the rest of the day.

“It was extremely refreshing to speak to someone who was both curtious and imformative as well. The price was also a welcome surprise and the level of cover speaks for itself. The fact that any phone calls are by an 0800 number is a real bonus and don’t they answer the phone quickly. No hanging on for ages listening to last years hits at 120 decibels. Beginning to feel at home already!
