Tuesday Morning Blues, Caravan Insurance & Sophie

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I hope you had a good bank holiday weekend – not sure about the cold weather we experienced, seems like winter is going to arrive very early.

The schools return this week so the commute to work will increase by 50% – utter madness.

Today sees me off into hospital as a day care case for a Knee Op. I have previously been to the Nuffield in Brentwood but today sees a break in my routine and a trip to the Spire Hosptial – new name for BUPA apparently – I must have missed that rebranding.

So I have a few hours to kill before leaving here around 10.45am and having had to stop eating and drinking at 7.30am I am craving badly for my early morning cups of tea!

I find my PA off this week as well so my life line to the office has also been cut, thats bad news for all the others as it just means I will have to communicate with everyone directly instead!

Happy I can take my ipad in though – whilst playing with You Tube found a great Avril Lavigne (bit of a soft spot for her) song called Innocence and the live version is rather cool. The song has great words and means diffferent things to different peole no doubt but I liked the way I think about it!

I will have no excuses for not blogging this week while I have been forced into having to sit down – not someting I do well.

September commences tomorrow and we are going to have an amazing month for Caravan Insurance – August was quiet and that always means that September will be busy and I know Mike will motivate his  team to achieve great things.

I am not sure I have publiclly congratulated our very own Sophie Morris for being promoted to the role of Assistant Manager- she was such the right person for the job and she will go far. Well done Sophie.

Have a great day.

Cup Cake Mornings!

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Well another week in the world of Cover4Caravans is well underway. The day started well with the need for a vanilla latte and a Cup Cake from the nearby Starbucks coffee shop. This means that all credits I had earned in the gym were well and truly taken away!

This week has seen a focus on our entire business with lots of developments and changes taking place – these decisions are never taken lightly and we have worked very hard at getting them right.

I think I was in trouble this morning for not bringing more cup cakes back into the office from my Starbucks trip but hey, you have to be very careful who you give a cup cake too – after all you dont want to give out the wrong message  -especially when it’s one of your more favourite treats!

The rest of today promises some exciting meetings so I need to go and prepare. Good preperation is always the key to a more productive meeting.

Enjoy your day.

Caravan Insurance, Sundays = countdown to Tuesdays!

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Well another early start – will the clan ever learn how to lie in? To be honest if they take after me then probably not.

I was wondering this morning where the Caravan Insurance season has gone. I cannot believe that we are moving towards the winter months at such an alarming rate – our season certainly gets longer every year but it is still seasonal.

Our Caravan Insurance Newsletter has reallygone down a storm and it will be posted on our main website very shortly so please keep your eyes open for it, there is loads of time to enter the caption compteition to win an ipod touch!

I had my regular visit to Kents Bluewater shopping centre yesterday – not sure why i can shop for England but I enjoy myself! Had to pick up some special presents – there is nothing better than choosing for those you care most about. You just have to hope those eyes of disapointment dont make an appearence!

So today is Sunday, the gateway to the end of the week and the entrance to the new one ahead, Mondays always vanish in a flash so a Sunday is like a countdown to the Tuesday – the day which is fast becoming my favouite day of the week!

Have a great Sunday.

Good Days, Long Days, Hard Days & Phil Collins Days!

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Well the week did fly by but I cannot deny that it certainly had it’s up’s and down’s!

Some days were simply fantastic (earlier in the week!) and others were more difficult. We have a lot going on in the office – we are running a business and sometimes as Directors, you have to make decisions that can be difficult – these are the days you prove to yourself and those around you that you are the leader they are looking for.

I certainly packed in the hours! Last night summed the week up nicely really when at 10pm I had to return to the office as no one had locked it up! But even that journey had it’s upside as I managed to use the time to catch up with some pretty important people by phone!

My ipad remains a great new toy and I am using the You Tube application loads as you can find some great music videos to watch and listen to. One of my current favourites is (no surprise here) a version of One More Night by Phil Collins – it is a really different piano version and it is cool – a bit off putting though as the video is out of sync with the sound!

Our first Caravan newsletter went down really well and we have already had lots of caption competition entries which is great.

My random thought for today is that it is good to miss people, but remember to tell them that is what you are doing so they know you have not dissapeared for a while without them still being an important thought in your head!

Have a great weekend.

What makes you think? What makes you care?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

This morning sees another early start, team one to one’s today so I need to cram in the preperation, there is nothing worse than having a meeting with someone and you have not prepared – the person you are meeting is immediatly under valued and you have simply not shown them any respect – I certainly used to arrive at these meetings ill prepared but then I realised how poor that was.

The one to one’s are always enjoyable and hopefully today will be no exception.

I received a comment on my blog today and it was attached to a blog I placed last July when a friend of mine, Robert, passed away very suddenly. Today it made me think – how sad for his girls waking up today, a whole year later, not having shared any of their up’s and downs with their dad for a year now. It makes me sad.

It makes me think, when you meet someone who you share that special bond of sharing with then you must share with them, you must think about them and you must show that you care. Sometimes events, distance and time only allows these things to be shared by email or telephone calls but you need to make that happen as you never know what is around the corner.

Have a great day. I intend to.
